Background
More than 40 companies in Abu Dhabi will travel as delegates to Shanghai, China, as part of efforts aimed at boosting the international presence of firms based in Abu Dhabi and fostering economic cooperation between both parties.
Strategic sectors that will be represented through the delegates include advanced manufacturing, agriculture & food, financial services, healthcare, artificial intelligence, technology, infrastructure & construction, retail & trade, among others. The objective is to foster business collaboration between entities operating in Abu Dhabi and China.
The business mission comes amid growing business relations between the UAE and China. Abu Dhabi Chamber has noted that new members of Chinese origin have grown by 85% in the past year.
The Chamber said the mission is designed to provide direct access to investors, business leaders and decision-makers in one of the world’s largest economies. China remains one of the UAE’s most important trading partners and a key market for companies seeking international expansion.
Data from the Chamber shows that Chinese businesses operating in Abu Dhabi are increasingly expanding into higher-value sectors such as construction, manufacturing, professional services and technology, moving beyond traditional trading activities.
During the visit, the delegation will participate in the Abu Dhabi Investment Forum and a dedicated Abu Dhabi-Shanghai Business Networking Event. This is likely to boost business interaction, explore investment opportunities and promote economic cooperation between the two regions.
The mission will also include delegates from the Abu Dhabi Family Business Council and the Abu Dhabi Youth Business Council, as well as people who represent the broader initiative to foster international relations within the emirate of Abu Dhabi.
