Background-

A mostly Emirati board will now steer MultiBank Exchange Holding, the group said, as the platform posts more than $500 billion (AED 1.84 trillion) in trading turnover for October 2026.

Founder and Chairman Naser Taher announced the seven directors. H.E. Mohammed Al Hakim serves as Vice Chairman. Al Hakim will work with six fellow directors, H.H. Sheikh Juma bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, H.E. Sheikh Mohammed bin Saqr bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, H.E. Ali bin Khalid bin Zayed Al Falasi, H.E. Rashid Sultan Al Malik, Majid Al Ghaslan and David Ogg.

Directors will shape strategy, tighten corporate governance and back the exchange’s push abroad. They will also build investment and financial ties across regions, within the legal and regulatory rules that apply, the group said.

Taher said the board’s experience will help the exchange grow and expand overseas. The group plans to bring financial institutions in the GCC, BRICS and other emerging markets closer to international markets through new technology, deeper liquidity and stronger settlement systems.

Clients of the exchange include banks, hedge funds, family offices and derivatives brokers. MultiBank said it links more than 30 tier-one banks and liquidity providers, handles daily volumes of up to $23 billion (AED 84.5 billion) and covers over 250 currencies.

According to the group, its matching engine processes trades in 400 nanoseconds, and the platform is the first interbank venue in emerging markets to offer settlement in digital assets. Licensed subsidiaries in Australia, Singapore and the UAE back the service.
