Background

Saudi Arabia’s Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority has graduated 33 artificial intelligence startups from the first cohort of its AI incubator program, held at the SMEs Support Center in Riyadh.

The authority marked the occasion with a graduation ceremony celebrating the startups, which covered eight sectors including healthcare, fintech, e-commerce, education, logistics, heritage and tourism, enterprise solutions and entrepreneurship enablement.

The program ran for six months and gave participants access to development support, mentoring and resources designed to take ventures from early ideation through to market entry.

The authority said the program aimed to drive innovation, push adoption of advanced technologies, and grow local content within Saudi Arabia’s artificial intelligence sector.

The incubator operates in partnership with the National Technology Development Program, which focuses on supporting AI product development and helping startups find their footing in the market.

The graduation of the first cohort marks a concrete step in Saudi Arabia’s broader push to build a domestic AI industry. The initiative reflects efforts to support startups and encourage growth in emerging sectors of the economy.

Participants received support throughout the six-month program, prepare their products and get ready to enter the market. The spread across eight sectors reflects the authority’s intent to embed AI capability across the wider economy rather than concentrating it in a single industry.

The authority did not name individual startups in the cohort but confirmed all 33 completed the program and are now positioned for market entry.
