Background
Dubai Taxi Company has signed a memorandum of understanding with Dubai Community Contributions Establishment, known as JOOD, to explore digital donation services that customers could access through taxis and ride hailing platforms across the emirate.
Under the agreement, announced in a statement, the two organisations plan to look into donation tools built into point of sale devices fitted in DTC vehicles, alongside similar options through the Bolt app. They also intend to tap into DTC’s advertising network and digital screens to spotlight community campaigns run through JOOD.
Joint plans extend further, with both sides aiming to produce impact measurement reports and run shared awareness and media campaigns showcasing humanitarian projects and the results of public contributions.
Mansoor Rahma Alfalasi, group CEO of DTC, framed the move as part of a wider push to extend value beyond transportation by putting the company’s mobility network and digital tools to broader use.
Embedding giving options directly into everyday customer interactions, he added, could make it simpler for residents and visitors alike to support charitable causes. For Marwan Rashed BinHashem, CEO of JOOD, the tie up speaks to a deliberate strategy of weaving charitable giving into daily life through digital and mobility channels people already use.
Officials described the agreement as part of Dubai’s broader push to deepen public and private sector cooperation and encourage community participation through technology driven solutions.
DTC currently runs a fleet exceeding 11,000 vehicles, including more than 6,800 taxis, giving it roughly 47 per cent of Dubai’s taxi market by fleet size. Its taxi and limousine services completed 53 million trips last year.
JOOD, for its part, operates as a unified digital platform connecting individuals with verified humanitarian and community initiatives spanning social care, health, education and housing.
Separately, DTC has also signed an MoU with Ajman based AJ Industries to explore expanding its mobility services into that emirate, building on its existing operation of school buses there in partnership with the Ministry of Education.
