Background
Saudi Arabia’s artificial intelligence company Humain has launched Humain Chat, an Arabic-first AI chatbot designed to serve more than 400 million Arabic speakers and 2 billion Muslims worldwide.
Backed by the country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF) and supported by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the app is powered by ALLAM 34B, which the firm calls the most advanced Arabic-first large language model. Trained on more than eight petabytes of Arabic data, the chatbot is designed to reflect Islamic culture, values, and heritage while delivering bilingual and culturally sensitive conversations.
Humain Chat is designed to help you switch between Arabic and English. It identifies various dialects like Egyptian and Lebanese, and speech can be entered in Arabic. It also uses real-time web search to provide updated information and enable sharing of conversations to enable collaboration.
The app is already available in Saudi Arabia through iOS, Android platforms, and web, and there are plans to expand regionally and globally. The company highlights that all user information is stored in the Kingdom, and that it is in line with the Personal Data Protection Law of Saudi Arabia, and therefore, is secure and private.
Tareq Amin, Humain CEO, noted that it is the first step toward generative AI in the region. It is not just technology; it is about inclusivity. With the Humain chatbot, Arabic identity and culture are introduced into the digital realm, and it demonstrates that the Kingdom can offer AI on a global scale, he said.
Earlier this year, Humain partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to invest over $5 billion in a first-of-its-kind AI Zone in Saudi Arabia. The project is expected to accelerate AI adoption, strengthen national infrastructure, and advance the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 strategy to build a knowledge-driven economy.
